Pore structure and gasification activity of coal and coke studied by small-angle X-ray scattering

Carbonisation is one of the important methods to improve utilisation coal. The structural composition coal plays an role in carbonisation. This work used small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) investigate pore structure three kinds raw coals with different carbon content derived from Xingtai City, Hebei Province, China. structures corresponding cokes obtained through carbonisation at 1200°C were investigated by elemental analysis and SAXS. In addition, gasification reaction (C1, C2, C3) CO2 studied thermogravimetric analysis. SAXS results indicate that surface fractal dimension increases while size decreases, distribution became wider after all present a positive deviation Porod’s law, indicating there micro-fluctuation electron density samples. Besides, it exhibites negative correlation has been found between degree law content. reactivity C1 C3 are higher than affect gas metamorphic CO2.
